TAC medical and treatment expenses: getting the care you need approved
If the TAC has declined or delayed a treatment request, that's not necessarily the end of it. We can help get it approved.
The basics
What TAC covers
The TAC covers reasonable treatment, rehabilitation and hospital costs related to your transport accident injuries, along with funding for home or vehicle modifications where your injuries require them. Cover is generally ongoing for as long as the treatment is reasonably necessary, though individual requests can still be declined or capped.
What's included
How we handle a declined request
Disputing a declined treatment request
If the TAC has refused to fund treatment your doctor recommends, we put together the medical evidence needed to challenge that decision.
Coordinating ongoing approvals
For treatment that needs to continue over months or years, we follow up approvals as they come due, so care isn't interrupted while paperwork catches up.
Home and vehicle modification funding
Where your injuries mean your home or vehicle needs to change, we handle the funding request and push back if it's knocked back or underfunded.
Long-term and attendant care claims
For ongoing or attendant care needs, we manage the claim so your support doesn't depend on re-fighting the same approval every few months.
How we help
Why a declined request isn't the final word
A refusal from the TAC is a decision, not a fact. It can be reviewed, and it's often reversed once the right medical evidence is put in front of it.
FAQs
Medical and treatment expenses: what people ask us
You can dispute the decision. We gather supporting evidence from your treating doctor and lodge a review, and if that doesn't resolve it, escalate the dispute further.
